Issue: Don't fall for the allure of reach
it’s always easier to believe you can organize someone you’ve never talked to than the person near you you already struggle to engage, but engaging lots of people doesn’t necessarily mean you’re activating, engaging, and moving them. Base building is about actually organizing and building capacity with other people. That means it’s hard, and frustrating, and can mean you have to talk to people you don’t really want to, and it’s not necessarily reaching the masses – it is about moving the right people and shifting those who can be moved, and building something more powerful into the future. But actual base building is how we ensure our wins are durable, implemented, and iterated onto into the future.
