Congress should…
Pass legislation to move us closer to a green new deal, 100% renewable future and ensure a just transition with good jobs for all. They should also pass more legislation and investment in renewables generally, not fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels are leading us toward a path of destruction with ongoing climate disaster coast to coast. The majority of people know things want to change: 72% of people want the government to encourage production of renewable energy,* and 50% of people want to minimize our reliance on fossil fuels.** Yet, investments in fossil fuels by big banks, insurance companies, private equity companies and asset managers continue, even pushed to do so by some local States, and the government keeps opening up more land for drilling. Things have to change.
Pass legislation to move us closer to a green new deal, 100% renewable future and ensure a just transition with good jobs for all. They should also pass more legislation and investment in renewables generally, not fossil fuels.
Get involved in the campaigns against the financiers of fossil fuels, like big banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and private equity companies. Without financing, fossil fuels can’t happen. We need to take action on a government and corporate level.
Pass local resolutions and bills to transition to 100% renewable with good jobs for all. They should also stop any sort of anti-ESG (or “woke capitalism”) legislation which strip money from our communities. Instead, they should encourage companies to divest from fossil fuels, invest in renewables, and pay their fair share of tax so we can build infrastructure and services for everyone in our communities.
Issue executive orders to address the climate crisis, including declare a climate emergency. And really, there’s at least 25 Executive Orders he could pass that would address at least part of this problem.
